Type 2: Double Shaft Plastic Shredder

The two rotating shafts of the double shaft plastic shredder drive the fixed blade and the movable blade respectively. The shearing and tearing forces generated by high-speed rotation quickly crush the plastic waste entering the machine into small pieces. Type 3: Four Shaft Plastic Shredder
Four shaft plastic shredder is a more complex device, usually composed of four rotating shafts, which can provide stronger shearing and tearing forces and is suitable for more difficult shredding tasks.
Four shaft plastic shredder uses the synergistic action of four rotating shafts to shear and tear the plastic waste multiple times to a very small particle size. This design is particularly suitable for processing high-viscosity or high-hardness materials.

Type 5: Specialized Industrial Heavy Duty Plastic Shredders
Specialized plastic shredders are custom-designed shredding machines made to handle particular types of plastic products that traditional shredders struggle to process efficiently. One important type is the Plastic Pipe Horizontal Double Shaft Shredder, developed specifically for shredding large, long plastic pipes and profiles without the need for cutting them into smaller pieces beforehand.
Working Principle
Taking the Plastic Pipe Horizontal Double Shaft Shredder as the main example:
- The shredder features two parallel shafts mounted horizontally.
- Large plastic pipes (such as HDPE, PVC pipes with diameters up to 1200 mm or more) are placed directly into a specially designed horizontal feed trough.
- No need to cut the pipes first — the machine’s large opening and strong gripping action allow it to catch and shred long pipes or profiles directly.
- Hydraulic cylinders or roller feeding systems push the pipes slowly toward the rotating cutters.
- The two shafts rotate in opposite directions at low speed and high torque, shearing, tearing, and crushing the pipe material between hooked or toothed blades.
- Once shredded, the smaller pieces fall through a screen or exit the bottom for further processing or collection.
